About

We don't just advise. We build.

A boutique engineering and advisory firm in Amsterdam, turning ideas into scalable, secure, and manufacturable products for over a decade.

What we actually do

RMBG identifies disruption potential in technology, business models, or user experience, then translates it quickly into prototypes, hardware, AI systems, and commercial products.

Our clients range from global corporations and mission-driven NGOs to ambitious startups. The work spans consumer electronics, industrial hardware, AI, cybersecurity, and sustainability.

What connects it is a bias toward the physical and the shipped: firmware that runs on real silicon, devices that survive a factory floor, and software that a security reviewer has actually read.

We write some of it down. Insights is long-form writing for founders and investors building physical products, drawn from what we have been through ourselves and with clients.

Think. Build. Invest.

Three ways we engage. Most of our work moves through all three.

Think

Strategy that survives contact with reality

We scope before we build. Technology foresight, requirement workshops, and roadmaps that account for what manufacturing, compliance, and security will actually demand of you later.

  • Technology opportunity scans
  • Requirements & scoping workshops
  • Digital transformation roadmaps
Build

Agent-assisted engineering, human-reviewed

AI agents pair with senior engineers to move from prototype to production faster than a traditional team can staff up. Every commit is reviewed, and security is a gate rather than a final audit.

  • Agentic software delivery
  • Hardware, IoT & connected products
  • Secure by design, from silicon to cloud
Invest

We take equity, not just invoices

When we believe in what you are building, we will trade some or all of our fee for equity and co-build with you. It aligns us with the outcome instead of the hours.

  • Equity-for-services engagements
  • Co-founding & build partnerships
  • Long-horizon product ownership

How we scale

Three layers, assembled to fit the problem.

A boutique firm should not mean a small bench. We combine agentic delivery with a senior core team and a global network of specialists, which is how a team our size takes on hardware, firmware, cloud, and security at the same time.

Time zones become an advantage rather than a tax: work moves overnight, and when a product goes into manufacturing we have people who can stand on the factory floor.

  1. AI agents

Agents take the mechanical engineering load: scaffolding, migrations, test coverage, refactors, integration work. Directed by engineers, reviewed on every commit.

  2. A senior core team

The people who own the architecture and the security decisions, and who stay on the engagement from scoping through production.

  3. Specialists worldwide

Near-shore and offshore engineers and domain experts across Europe, Asia and the Americas, including hardware people near the factories that build your product.

Research, not just delivery

It is why we are comfortable being handed a problem with no obvious precedent.

  • Connected hardware
  • Sensing & signal processing
  • Secure device architecture
  • Battery & safety systems
  • On-device personalisation

We run our own R&D alongside client work, on connected hardware, sensing, and secure device architecture. Some of it has become patented intellectual property, including hardware now shipping in consumer products.

The rest becomes leverage: a sensing approach, a firmware pattern, or a security model we have already proven, so a client problem starts from something working rather than from a blank page.

What we have built

A sample of shipped work. Client names are withheld, but the systems are real and in production.

Cybersecurity

Consumer hardware security device

Our own product: an award-winning device protecting travellers on untrusted networks. Taken from concept through certification to mass production and worldwide distribution.

Shipped to 125+ countries, with retail in the US, Europe and Japan. $3M raised.

  • Firmware
  • Cloud backend

Connected wellness

Patented connected wellness device

A flexible, patented consumer device with a companion app: hardware bring-up, firmware, a Bluetooth link, and on-device personalisation driven by usage signals. The data involved is intimate, so privacy was an architectural constraint rather than a policy page.

Patented hardware, working firmware and a companion app delivered from concept to a production-ready device.

  • Patented hardware
  • Firmware
  • Mobile app
  • Privacy engineering

Hospitality

Beverage procurement platform

A procurement system for hospitality operators, connecting venues to suppliers with catalogue, ordering, and reconciliation in one flow. Now a leading solution in its category.

Operating at scale across hospitality venues.

  • Platform engineering
  • Integrations
  • Cloud

How we work

We build, then we advise

Recommendations from people who have not shipped the thing are cheap. We stay accountable for what gets made.

Security is not a phase

It is a constraint we design against from the first architecture conversation, not an audit bolted on before launch.

Skin in the game

We take equity where we believe in the product, and we say no to work we do not think we can do well.

Get started

Tell us what you are building.

A short conversation is usually enough to tell whether we are the right team for it. We will say so if we are not.
