App Privacy Policy

1. Scope

This policy covers the apps published by RMBG BV and listed on our apps page, on every platform they run on. Our website is covered by the separate website privacy policy.

RMBG BV, Boy Edgardstraat 27, 1066 GR Amsterdam, The Netherlands (Chamber of Commerce 76905284) is responsible for the processing described here.

2. Our approach for every app

  • On your device. Your content and settings are stored on your device. We do not run servers that receive them.
  • No account. Our apps work without signing up or signing in.
  • No analytics, advertising or tracking. We do not include analytics, advertising or tracking SDKs, and we do not sell or share personal data.
  • Third parties only when you choose them. Where an app offers a feature that uses an outside service, it is off until you turn it on, it uses your own account with that service, and the app-specific section below says exactly what is sent.

3. Data we do receive

  • Support requests. If you email us, we receive your email address and what you write, and use it only to help you. We keep it as long as needed to handle your request and for our administration.
  • App store data. Apple and Google process downloads, purchases and reviews under their own privacy policies. They give developers aggregated statistics, and crash reports only if you choose to share diagnostics with developers in your device settings.

4. Vellum

Vellum is a PDF and Markdown studio for Mac, iPhone, iPad and Android.

Stored on your device

  • Documents you open, with your annotations, notes and Markdown edits, in a local database.
  • Signatures you save, in the same database.
  • Settings such as appearance and Read Aloud preferences.
  • Read Aloud API keys, in the system keychain (Apple) or the Android Keystore.

Deleting the app deletes this data. Exported files are yours to keep or share.

Text recognition

Scanned pages are recognized with the text recognition built into your device (Apple Vision on Apple devices, Google ML Kit with an on-device model on Android). Page images are not uploaded.

Camera and photos

The camera and photo library are used only when you capture or import a signature, and images are processed on your device.

Read Aloud (optional)

Read Aloud works only after you add your own API key for OpenAI or ElevenLabs. While it reads, the text of the pages being read is sent directly from your device to the provider you chose, under your account with them, to create the audio. RMBG does not receive this text. The provider’s privacy policy applies to it: OpenAI, ElevenLabs. Remove your key in Settings to turn the feature off.

5. Children

Our apps are suitable for all ages and do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone, including children.

6. Your rights

Under the GDPR you can ask us for access to, correction of or deletion of personal data we hold about you, which in practice means support emails. You can also complain to the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens).

7. Changes

When an app gains a feature that changes what is described here, we update this page and the date at the top before that version is released.
